District 9 was great! Very original, very well acted. I could so see this kind of scenario is today's world with the way government and people are. I hadn't heard of any of the actors in it mainly because it's shot in South Africa, but it doesn't matter. It was well done and I loved it. Before the movie it over, you have ran the gambit of hating, disliking, associating with, feeling sorry for, and actually liking the main human character. It was a great feat for almost any film. Totally worth seeing if you are into aliens and/or sci-fi. :) Hope that they come up with a second installment.
OMG. Went and seen "Moon". Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time or money on seeing this movie. If you feel you just gotta see it, for God's sake, wait for it to go to Redbox or go the cheap matinee. The movie was well enough done, but it moved ever so incredibly, painfully slowly. Plus, when you only have only 2 characters in a film: 1 human, 1 computer--you really can't do a whole lot to spice it up or make it exciting. I would have rather went home, saved my money, and watched tv.--If I could give it less than one star, I would.
Star Trek...well, it was supposed to be a "reboot" of the franchise. All that amounted to was a younger cast, but they did cast exceptionally well. I was pleasantly surprised. As a diehard trekkie from way back of going to conventions, I really enjoyed this film. Any faux pas moments that were in this film, they covered well. It was nice to see Spock again even through the many filters they used on his face. I guess if I were his age, I'd want to be seen at my best too. Definitely worth the watching! Great special effects, believable cast.
Saw "Twilight" and I liked it. I categorize it as a chick flick even though it's about vampires. Maybe it's more of a vampire love story. But, it's good. Especially for "Twilight" book fans or fans of Robert Pattinson. It's quite a sweet movie with plenty of places that startle you enough to make you jump in your seat. If you're a guy..you probably won't like this movie. Most of the guys I saw were there cause their girlfriends dragged them to see it. My husband said it didn't have anything that blew up, car chases, etc, to make him like it. :) I'm now waiting on the sequels to come out to see what happens to the budding love affair in this one!
I just saw the movie "Expelled". This documentary is very well done. Ben Stein hit a home run here. I encourage all thinking people to go see this movie. Stein definitely made his point that critical thinking is obviously not tolerated on the American college or university campus. This movie made me realize how many of us "college educated" people were brain washed by some of our science professors. When I think back I can remember how critical thinking in matters of science (specifically Darwin's evolution)was discouraged and even ridiculed.
Obv iously that problem is much worse now. Are they afraid for us to think for ourselves? Where is the freedom of speech? I paid for each hour of my college education. I think I was cheated.
